Safe and Green Food Packaging Methods

Food packaging is to maintain the freshness of the food and make it available to sell for long distances. Food manufacturing companies are paying close attention for better packaging for their products. With the growing concern on health and safety, manufacturing houses are looking for environment friendly solutions, which are observed especially in the countries which have government rule and norms on food processing and packaging.

In this blog I am going to discuss about some green packaging methods.

Safety packaging:

Safety is the primary concern of food packaging. Package a food to ensure the safety and freshness of the product. Be concerned about both the inner and the outer packaging materials. Apply proper packaging material as that gives the safety of the product. Use food wrapping machine, cans, tray to pack perishable products properly.

Stop going for over packaging:

Modern entrepreneurs tend to given more importance on packaging rather than on the products. The food prices are increases due to the quality packaging. In fact, nowadays a product which can be packaged in a simple way is being made into a luxurious one. This is called over packaging.

The disadvantages of this kind packaging are:

·         It makes the box heavy and bulky to carry.
·         Require more space, this increases carriage.
·         Misleads the consumer by the appearance. It creates a negative impact on the mind of the buyer.
·         It also increases waste. Over packaging needs extra papers and plastics which go into the garbage.

Using green packaging materials:

Start using green packaging materials. It will benefit both the company and the nature as well. Recyclable material can be easily decomposed by the nature. Companies should start using glass bottles for packing juices, milk and soft drinks. Use of plastic should be minimized. For carrying products from the market try to use paper bags, biodegradable plastic bags or jute bags.
