Different Kinds of Leak Sources

A leak basically means a hole, an unintended crack or porosity in the enveloping wall or the joint of a covering through which various gases and fluids accidentally pass through. The term ‘leakage’ and ‘leak’ appears in the field of vessels’ hermetical closing and doesn’t confront only with the vacuum technologists but also engineers working with high pressures.

Nowadays, with the use of modern technologies packages are being sealed very carefully allowing very little rates of leakage. This means leakage in packaging still exists. It’s practically unfeasible to create a sealed system or an enclosure, which can be guaranteed to be leakproof.

There are actually different kinds of leak sources.

Some leaks are caused by the defects in containing envelope. For instance, a plastic bottle having a very thin wall may have a microscopic crack at a high pressure difference.

Leaks in the newly manufactured goods can also been seen. They are basically imperfect seals or joints by which the different parts are assembled for forming the final product. There are the fixed joints-between them mostly used are soldered and brazed joints ceramic-to-metal and glass-to-metal seals, welds, O-rings etc

There may also be a virtual leak. This is special kind of leakage in vacuum technique. It’s not actually a leakage but an internal source of vapor or gas. These are the cavities in chamber wall having thin connections to inner vessel space like improper welds, holes and closed threads etc.

Bag leakage detectors are used for finding out if there is any leakage in the packaging. The main functions of a bag leakage detector are localization and measurement of the size of the leaks in the sealed systems and products. In most of the examples, a leak test process is the quality control step for assuring device integrity and a one-time nondestructive examination.
Typical products where the process of leak detection is used include vacuum chambers, cathode tubes, pressure vessels, pumps, aerosol containers, refrigerating systems, beverage cans, nuclear and chemical plants, goods containing metal bellows etc.

Tips to Protect the Colors of Outdoor Upholstery

If you are having a decorated roof top or terrace added to your house, you must have some furniture to fit those places, right? A well furnished terrace looks nice and this is a nice place to spend your evening out there. Mostly this is an open place. An open place like this will certainly have furniture covered with good upholstery to protect them from rain, dust and sunlight. Therefore there is always a need of good outdoor upholstery for that precious furniture.

Outdoor upholstery in Sydney is mostly exposed to weather and have to sustain the effect of sunlight. Sunlight is the major factor that makes the upholstery loses its color and shine. Here I will discuss on some tips to keep the colors of the fabrics intact.

Try to be selective while buying covers for your furniture. Color holding feature depends on the quality of the fabric. If you buy upholstery made up of cottons and wool, they will have tendency to lose its color faster. You can buy upholstery made up of nylon-polyester or acrylic; they have better color retention capacity under extreme weather.

Buy relatively light color upholstery than the conventional dark color ones. It has been observed that dark color upholstery tends to fade up faster than the light color ones. If you are addicted to use darker shades to protect the color, place the furniture under shaded areas on the terrace, so that it does not come under direct sunlight. You can use blinds, umbrella to make some shades on the open surface.

Major reason of losing color from the upholstery is the sunlight. If there is lack of shades in your roof-top, try to arrange the furniture in such a way that light color furniture gets the most of the light than the darker ones.

There is some sun protecting solution available for upholstery. Apply them on the fabric to protect them from any sort of tanning and losing the color.

Causes of Hearing Loss

Age
Hearing loss is the natural phenomenon when people become aged. People’s ability to hear starts worsening from 30s and 40s and when they reach our 80s, most of them suffer from hearing loss.

Noise
We may experience sounds of traffic, TV, radios etc in our day to day lives. But all these are at a safe level not damaging the hearing. They are under 85 decibles. When the sound is more than this level is causes noise and that hampers our hearing. Noisy motors, loud music at night clubs, discos and night clubs cause hearing problem in the future. The increasing use of portable MP3 players is even causing hearing damages. These devices can deliver high sound levels and so the user in order to enjoy music to the utmost level exposes their ears to excessively high dB levels.

Smoking
Recent studies have shown that if you quit smoking or reduce it and avoid passive exposure to smoking, you may reduce the risk of hearing loss. Presently, smokers have more than fifteen percent of hearing loss than non-smokers. However, it has also been found that passive smoking has increased the likelihood of hearing loss by twenty-eight percent.

Other hearing loss causes include:
·         too much of ear wax
·         build-up of fluid in ear
·         an infection in the ear
·         an inflammation of brain
·         stroke where the supply of blood to brain is interrupted
·         meningitis

Hearing loss can be temporary or permanent. For example, if it’s because of too much of ear wax that you are unable to hear properly, you can ask an ENT specialist to treat it and get it removed as soon as possible. But if it is because of exposure to loud noise, then hearing aids may only be the solution. But before buying one for your need, consult one of the reputed audiologists in Bulleen, let him or her examine you and conduct a hearing test. Your audiologist will be the best person to suggest you what to do in case of hearing loss.
